Security Essen 2016: The next global fair for civil security

Now that IFSEC 2016 draws to a close, Security Essen remains as the next must-see global fair for civil security. From September 27 to 30, 2016, more than 1,000 companies from around 40 nations will redefine the standard for civil security at Messe Essen.
In the six pillars (Mechanical Security Systems, Cyber Security, CCTV, Fire Prevention, Services as well as Perimeter Security), the exhibitors will present their newest products and services. The Video Surveillance and Perimeter Security exhibition areas have grown. On September 27, the fair will honour particularly pioneering products with the Security Innovation Award.
A large number of manufacturers and system suppliers will show innovations in the field of security technology. No matter whether access control, locking technology or video surveillance – the increasing networking of these systems is demanding new solutions. Together with the Federal Association for Security Technology (BHE), Security Essen is planning to make it possible to experience home applications in a completely equipped house.
Cyber security will be another main focal point of the fair. No matter whether cyber attacks or economic espionage – there has been a substantial rise in crime in the digital field. Under the ‘Cyber Security’ title in Fair Hall 7, exhibitors will show how companies and users can protect themselves. Additional specialist support will be offered by the specialist conference which will be called ‘Networked Security / Industry 4.0’ and will feature experts from the Fraunhofer Institute and the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Bonn.
In spectacular live demonstrations, exhibitors will highlight the degrees of security of their products in an impressive way. The programme on the outdoor site at the fair will include attacks and blasts on bulletproof glass. On the Thursday of the fair, this site will be reserved for the fire brigades and the exhibitors from the Fire Prevention area. Within the framework of the Fire Prevention Day, they will show elaborate rescue measures and innovations which prevent fires or help to fight them effectively.
No matter whether in refugee homes, at large-scale events or in corporate groups, private security service providers are being deployed continuously at present. In the special show entitled ‘Protection, Security & Service’ in Hall 6, they will give insights into their comprehensive services together with the Federal Association of Guard and Security Companies (BDSW). On the Training and Further Education Day on September 27, they will invite trainees and interested people in the security industry to obtain information and establish contacts in situ.
Traditionally, Security Essen is the stage for innovations. A large number of exhibitors use the fair in order to introduce their new products and services to the trade public. In particular, pioneering firms will present their products and services on the joint booth called “Young Innovative Companies“ in Hall 5. This booth will be promoted by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs. Amongst other exhibits, it will be possible to see smart home technologies, safety lights or also complete solutions for the forensic analysis of network traffic. In the Security Research Area, institutions and firms from the field of research and development will also congregate in Hall 5; they will give the trade visitors insights into ongoing projects and results.
