CEM Systems, a leading access control brand of Tyco International, today announced the release of its innovative S610f fingerprint card reader.
Used with the CEM AC2000 range of security management systems, the S610f fingerprint reader controls access to restricted areas where an additional biometric layer of security is required.
Featuring a controller, advanced IP card reader and single biometric solution all in one, the S610f fingerprint reader meets the requirements for three stage identity authentication (card, PIN, and biometric verification) using one device.
The biometric sensor on the S610f fingerprint reader features the industry-leading Suprema SFM3000 series fingerprint module. Exceeding extensive FBI requirements, including legibility of fingerprint templates, the FIPS 201-certified Suprema sensor offers significant benefits, including fast 1:1 matching speed, reliable high quality fingerprint images and high template accuracy.
“The S610f fingerprint reader brings the concept of a truly integrated fingerprint and biometric solution to the industry,” said Andrew Fulton, Business Development Director for CEM products.
“The S610f offers clients considerable cost savings and installation benefits since it eradicates the requirement to purchase a separate biometric reader and software application to link to the access control system.”
Unlike comparable solutions, that save fingerprint templates only to a smart card, the S610f captures templates on the CEM AC2000 access control enrollment station simultaneously with cardholders’ personnel details and images.
This capture method provides clients with a single biometric and access control software solution and enables quick card re-issuance for lost cards from the fingerprint data held on the access control server.
All data is subsequently saved to the AC2000 server and uniquely distributed to the S610f reader for local storage in its database via the access control network.
With a unique internal database, that holds biometric and cardholder data at the door level, the S610f fingerprint reader also provides full off-line biometric and card verification. The verification process ensures reliable decision-making at the door at all times even if communication to the system host becomes unavailable.
