Axis Communications, in partnership with the Kowa Company, has introduced the P-Iris, which offers precise iris control, so allowing fixed network cameras to deliver better image quality on both indoor and outdoor applications.

The product addresses the issue of blurring which can typically occur with megapixel / HDTV cameras using sensors with smaller pixels. P-Iris lenses also provide better depth of field. The P-Iris lens uses a stepper motor that automatically and precisely regulates the iris opening to produce optimum contrast, clarity and resolution, so overexposure. The product addresses the fact that a manual iris lens can often be inadequate in situations where light levels are constantly changing.
