Delta Security Helps Prevent Anti-Social Behaviour in North West London

delta securityDelta Security has won a two-year contract to design, manufacture and install new steel doors to communal entrances in 13 of Origin Housing’s developments, servicing over 170 flats across North London.

Origin Housing is a provider of affordable housing and care and support services in London and Hertfordshire. It owns and manages over 6,000 homes, has a turnover of  £50 million and aims to provide great homes and build strong communities in the areas it services.

Delta Security’s Model 9 Steel Door is already used in a number of Origin Housing’s properties, including North-West London’s Griffin Close, and Frank O’Gallagher, Project Surveyor at Origin Housing, says this is down to a built up confidence in the quality and good value of Delta’s product and service:

delta security“We require a high security door that deters those wanting to vandalise and enter the property illegally and the Delta Model 9 door delivers on this specification,” he explains. “It has a very robust locking mechanism and despite it being extremely secure, it looks good and complements the profile of the buildings where it is used.

“The latest project contract is a result of requests from Repairs Departments and Neighbourhood Managers who have raised concerns over the security of timber doors, which are also expensive to maintain.

“It was clear that Delta had a clear understanding of how best to mitigate ASB, as well understanding the timescales and practicalities involved in installing doors with minimum disruption to residents. The finished product and workmanship is also consistently of a very high standard.”

In addition to the provision of doors, the service includes the supply of Maglocks, key fobs and door closers; replacing door entry handsets and signage, cabling reconnection and all associated electrical works as well as all making good and brickwork repairs. All doors come with 11.5mm anti-bandit glass as standard, and the door entry and fob systems are programmed so that tenants and caretakers only have access to the areas of the property where they are permitted.

Dave Mundy, Operations Manager at Delta Security says the door’s robust design gives tenants confidence in their security, and gives Origin Housing the confidence that they have invested in a product and service that will help protect residents and property from ASB:
“Ordinary wooden doors offer little resistance to a determined attack and can actually attract unwanted attention, which can result in vandalised communal areas and a marked increase in burglaries.

“Steel doors represent an entirely different proposition and provide serious problems for vandals. With the security fixings and Maglocks, they provide over a metric tonne of holding force, which not only physically reduces the possibility of vandalism, but visually it is very apparent that the Model 9 door is extremely secure, deterring the likelihood of attempts in the first place.”
