Reliance high - tech launches innovative remote locking solution

Reliance High-Tech Remote Locking service increases flexibility and brings cost savings to the management of external door security

CHESSINGTON, 07 JANUARY 2010 – Reliance High-Tech has launched an IP-based solution to control the opening and closing of a company’s premises. Remote Locking from Reliance High-Tech transforms the efficiency of door management using an intelligent lock and a control unit with an integrated GSM/GPRS modem.

The control unit communicates with the Reliance Remote Monitoring Centre enabling the secure opening and closing of customers’ premises at scheduled pre-arranged times or on demand. The unit reports in real-time on the status of doors ensuring Reliance operators can act quickly to resolve any issue that may arise with a customers’ security.

Dan Thomas, Reliance High-Tech Sales and Marketing Director, said, “Many organisations struggle to manage the security on external doors and hand over their keys to employees which can carry a number of inherent risks; both to the employees and to the company’s assets and premises. Our customers have told us they do not want the threat of duplicated keys or doors accidentally left unlocked, both of which compromise an organisation’s security. Additionally employees can be more vulnerable to crime when they are unlocking a building early in the morning or locking it up again in the evening or late at night.”

Thomas continues, “We have developed a simple and effective solution to these real problems, working with our partners Abloy who have provided the intelligent electronic lock and Gendis who have developed the integrated control unit for our exclusive use. The Reliance High-Tech Remote Locking solution offers a cost effective and flexible solution to the issue of locking and unlocking premises. The solution is delivered as a fully managed service and can be fully integrated with the use of mobile patrols, which can be called upon by our monitoring centre operators to respond in the event of an incident.”

Should a customer need a door opened outside of the scheduled times the operators at the BS5979 CAT II accredited Reliance Remote Monitoring Centre can initiate this at the touch of a button. The high security smart lock also operates as a normal lock that allows mechanical over-ride using a key if necessary. Employees can always exit the building regardless of the status of the lock using the mechanical door handle in compliance with European fire regulations.

Reliance High-Tech Remote Locking is powered using leading security technology partners Gendis and Abloy and delivered from the dedicated Reliance Monitoring Centre accredited to BS5979 CAT II standards.
