W-5 chipset from Samsung Techwin.
Samsung Techwin has announced that four of its 24-hour surveillance cameras will benefit from the company’s ‘Winner’ W-5 chipset. This has been developed to enhance camera stability and optimise image processing so that users enjoy crisp images at 600TVL thanks to lens quality and ‘sens-up’ which, to the uninitiated, is an image optimization technique used at low light levels.
Among the many developments in the W-5 DSP is the Samsung Super Dynamic Range (SSDR), a feature that has gone beyond standard backlight compensation to automatically balance dark areas across an entire scene, so enhancing an operator’s ability to discern objects and movement that might otherwise be hidden in shadow.
